Volunteering

In today's time of economic unstability, there really is one thing that we as Americans can count on to be consistent which is "volunteering".

Volunteering does not have to be a daunting task nor spend many hours providing a service.

Volunteering can be as simple as making a weekly phone call to a disabled or an elderly person that is unable to leave the house. You can deliver a home delivered meal once a week during your lunch hour to someone who would not normally be able to have a healthy, hot and nutritious meal. Most important you can involve your children in participating with volunteering. Animal shelters are in big demand for assistance. Maybe the neighbor down the road needs his/her lawn mowed. Perhaps one of the roads you travel needs some trash picked up. If you look around you can find just about anything that you like to do and incorporate into your lifestyle. You manage how much you can do and when. It is not always about giving money, but giving of yourself.

You can start by making a short term goal:

1. What can you do?
2. When can you do it?
3. How often?
4. Where?
5. Involve a family member or friend

Blood Donors

Scott & White Blood Center is the only completely local blood center in Central Texas. Only Scott & White ensures all donations remain in our community to directly benefit our friends and neighbors. We never ship our blood donations outside Central Texas as other blood centers often do.
Scott & White is the only level 1 trauma center between Dallas and Austin. The blood donated at Scott & White is used for medical emergencies, treatments and surgeries at our medical facilities across the region.
